About Us
The Labyrinth
Help us build our labyrinth by sponsoring a Labyrinth Stone. Proceeds from this fundraising
project will be used to help us finish building the labyrinth for all of the Farmington community
to use. Please see this form for donation information.
The Labyrinth
A labyrinth is a single winding path that leads to the center and out again. Found in many
cultures and traditions, including Celtic, Native American, Mayan, Egyption, and European, the
labyrinth is a centuries-old tool for meditation and reflection. Walking the labyrinth is a symbolic
journey, a metaphor for the paths we walk each day, and for the direction we give our lives. Today,
labyrinths are enjoying a renewed interest, with walkable patterns being built at schools, hospitals,
retreat centers, and other common gathering spaces.
How Should I Walk the Labyrinth?
Walking the labyrinth is an individual act--there is no right or wrong way. The path to discover God
is as varied and unique as each individual seeker. Walkers are encouraged to pause before entering the
labyrinth. This allows one to prepare for the walk and shed the concerns and minutia of daily life.
It also emphasizes the first decisive step into the labyrinth.
